Take a Break!

05.23.2014 by Elizabeth // Leave a Comment

IMG_0308This is your friendly reminder that it’s a 3 day holiday weekend. Take a break folks! I know I have enough work to keep me busy all weekend long, and the thought of it raining and not being warm enough to sit on my patio with a delicious IPA and a few comic books makes it easier to think I should just work.

But I won’t. My DVR has some great stuff on it, I’m still not finished with my Free Comic Book Day finds, and I kind of like hanging out with my husband and Hank.

Take a break, go for a walk, go to the bookstore, or a movie, or catch up on the DVR this weekend. The work can wait!

December Pop Culture Round Up: Holiday Edition

12.20.2013 by Elizabeth // Leave a Comment

IMG_2125Alright folks, it’s the most wonderful time of the year- and that includes Pop Culture! Instead of my monthly favorites, I figured let’s go with a fun theme, so here they are, some of my favorite Holiday Pop Culture things, please share yours in the comments!

Reading

There’s too many options here- but a couple of my all time favorites include:

The Stupidest Angel by Christopher Moore. He’s one of my favorite authors, and his Christmas story is pretty great. If you like it, make sure to check out my favorite book, Lamb.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. You may not have read this book since you were 12, but it holds up. Still hysterical and fantastic. Pick it up for the 10 year old in your life!

Red Ranger Came Calling. This is a family favorite book, such a fun story AND it takes place on Vashon Island. I finally went to the tree a year and a half ago, it was awesome.

Watching

A Muppet Christmas Carol. Yup, this is my favorite Christmas movie. I watch it every year!

White Christmas. I have a musical watching family, and every year I have to watch this movie!

Elf. Yeah, this is the new favorite of course, SANTA! I KNOW HIM!!!

Christmas Vacation. No Thanksgiving is complete at the Case household without watching this movie. I didn’t grow up with it, I married into this movie, but I love it as if it’s my own.

Simon Birch. Not a Christmas movie per-se but easily the best Christmas pageant scene EVER.

Listening

I tend to his shuffle on my iTunes playlist for the holidays. My go to work music is A Charlie Brown Christmas. It’s the perfect holiday work music. Diana Krall, Harry Connick Jr., Jackson 5, and Stevie Wonder round out my favorite Christmas albums.

And no Christmas is complete with out Bob & Doug MacKenzie’s 12 Days of Christmas or David Sedaris’ Santaland Diaries (I prefer the audio to the book because he’s so perfectly snarky!)

However you survive or celebrate the holiday’s pop culture is an obvious necessity to make it through! What’s your favorite pop culture at the holiday’s?

Networking with Yellow Dog in July!

07.01.2013 by Elizabeth // Leave a Comment

IMG_3580July is my favorite month of the year, yes, it’s my Birthday Month! And with the unofficial start of summer on July 5th, it’s a great reason to get out and network! Here’s a few events happening throughout the month, I hope to see you there!

Tuesday, July 9th
BizDev Seminar Series: Google+ – Growth, Value, and Clearing up the Confusion

Here’s a topic I just don’t know enough about. So when I saw PSBJ was hosting a workshop on it, I jumped at the chance.

Friday, July 12th
NWEN Breakfast Buzz

You know how much I love NWEN breakfasts. Great networking, great people, great inspiration. If you are a start up, NWEN is the place to be! I don’t usually go into Seattle for the breakfasts (I’m a lazy eastsider who hates traffic) BUT I do love my Full Circle Farm box that’s delivered each week, and this story sounds pretty great!

Thursday, July 18th
eWomen Network Luncheon

As most of you know I’ve been a big fan of eWomenNetwork for a LONG time and the speakers scheduled in 2013 do not look to disappoint! If you can’t join the luncheon but want to check out eWomen let me know, they have smaller events throughout the month.

Monday, July 22nd
My Birthday!

While some people don’t like getting older, I’m okay with it. And I love my birthday. I’ll be skipping out on work for the day to hangout with friends and family and Hank of course!
