FRIDAY: Take Your Dog to Work Day!

The Friday Afternoon "let's be done working now" look
The Friday Afternoon “let’s be done working now” look

Just a reminder that Friday (tomorrow) is Take Your Dog To Work Day. At Yellow Dog Consulting, every day is Take Your Dog to Work Day. Make sure to double check with your boss that it’s OK to bring your pup in for the day. And if it’s not, quit on the spot.

Okay, don’t. If you are lucky enough to participate make sure to take frequent potty breaks (both you and your dog) and bring a couple of treats, to share with other dogs, and to keep him occupied while you pretend to work. And if your dog hasn’t experience elevators, make sure you have a back up plan. 6 floors is a long way to walk with Hank (I mean, any dog…) Have a fun time and don’t forget to take lots of pictures!

Woof!

Make Time for Fun

Grab a cup of tea and take a break

A few weeks ago I tagged along on my husband’s business trip to Las Vegas. When the trip was scheduled I was in desperate need of warm Vitamin D, sitting by the pool for 3 days, reading and relaxing sounded perfect. And it was.

I returned to work later that week refreshed, reenergized and ready to go. Sometimes you need to get away. Have you ever sat down for an appointment and realized you’d rather do ANYTHING than be working or pretending to care about the client or stranger across from you that you’re supposedly a great networking fit with? Yeah, it sucks. And we’ve all done it, and we’ve all made it through. And some of those people have become great clients or networking contacts.

Give yourself permission to take a vacation, or a break, or play hooky for the afternoon. Sometimes you need to go home, sit on the couch and watch Mad Men. The last thing you want is to end up overwhelmed and stressed out. After this weeks Mad Men I think we all know how well that worked for Lane…

A few treats from Hank

The worlds greatest lab
Not everyone gets in the Christmas spirit I guess

This morning I was excited to see my favorite blog feature Hank as the photo of the day. If you know me, you know that I LOVE pop culture. When I worked at USA Today I discovered Pop Candy, a daily blog about all things pop culture. It is the one blog I read every day, and when I forget, I can tell my day is off.

In case you missed the newsletter with Hank’s Stocking ideas, I thought I’d re-post them here for you today. Have a great Christmas (or non Christmas winter holiday if that’s how you celebrate), we look forward to seeing you in the new year!

Hank’s Favorite Stocking Stuffers

When I talk about Hank, I always tell folks, we know he’s spoiled, we promise he’ll be our only child. Hank runs the Case household and he knows it! So it’s no surprise that during the holiday season he gets the biggest stocking! Here’s a few stocking stuffers Hank thinks your dog would also like:

  • Tennis Balls (and a chuck-it if you don’t have one…no use touching a slobbery ball when you don’t have to!)
  • Bully Sticks: This is Hank’s all time favorite treat – and the only treat that lasts him more than 2 minutes.
  • Cheese: ANYTHING with cheese, he especially enjoys Tillamook Sharp Cheddar. Snob.
  • Poop bags: You know you need them, might as well stock up while you’re thinking about it.
